Vintage from the 1960s – Ultra Rare – Collector’s Set

Original Fabric – 5-Piece Living Set (1 Sofa + 2 Armchairs + 2 Ottomans)

Origin:

A remarkably rare mid-century Art Deco Revival living room suite from the 1960s, preserved with its original period upholstery, sculptural lines, and iconic atomic-era silhouette.

This 5-piece set, composed of one sofa, two armchairs, and two ottomans, showcases the bold experimentation of late 1950s–60s European design. The sweeping side panels, tapered wooden legs with brass caps, and integrated cut-out arm handles all point to a designer influenced by Gio Ponti, Marco Zanuso, and French post-war modernism.

The mixed-texture upholstery — velvet paired with a woven ribbed knit fabric — is exceptionally distinctive and rarely found intact today. The warm burnt orange palette, paired with sculptural curves and ergonomic depth, makes this set a museum-level example of mid-century functional art.

Pieces of this nature were produced in very limited quantities and are almost never found as a complete, original 5-piece ensemble.

Condition:

This set has been beautifully preserved. The original upholstery shows light, expected aging consistent with carefully maintained vintage fabric from the 1960s, while the structure of every piece remains strong and stable. The wood legs and brass caps are in excellent condition with natural patina that enhances the authenticity of the suite. Overall, the set presents exceptionally well, retaining its original charm, color depth, and sculptural form, with no structural repairs or replacements.

Details:

This suite showcases a rare fusion of sculptural form and mid-century textile artistry. The aerodynamic arms with integrated cut-out handles create a futuristic silhouette, while the contrast between plush velvet and textured woven upholstery highlights the craftsmanship associated with high-end European workshops of the 1960s. The tapered wooden legs and brass caps ground the design in classic mid-century elegance, and the matching cushions—shaped and upholstered in original fabrics— add depth and continuity to the composition. Together, these features create a visually striking and highly collectible ensemble that feels both architectural and inviting, embodying the refined experimental spirit of the period.
