1960s–1970s – Mid-Century Modern Art Glass – Matched Pair of Freeform Amber Bowls
Origin:
A beautifully matched pair of hand-blown freeform art glass bowls in warm honey-amber, transitioning to clear glass at the chunky faceted base. The multi-lobed, petal-like rim with its fluid pinched edges and organic biomorphic silhouette is highly characteristic of mid-century North American and Bohemian art glass production — most notably the style associated with Canadian Chalet Art Glass and Czech Chribska glassworks, both active through the 1960s and 1970s. The deep amber pooling at the center, thinning to golden-champagne at the fluted rim, and the heavy clear foot are signature construction details of this era and tradition. Unmarked, in the style of Chalet Art Glass (Canada) or Chribska (Bohemia), circa 1960s–1970s.

Design Notes:
The biomorphic freeform bowl was one of the defining decorative objects of the mid-century era — as much sculpture as vessel. When lit by natural or warm artificial light, the amber glass glows with remarkable depth, casting dramatic honey-toned shadows. Owning a matched pair in this condition is increasingly rare.
