1920s–1940s – Art Déco – Bohemian Pressed Glass Bud Vases (Pair)

Origin:

A charming matched pair of small Art Déco bud vases in a vivid aqua blue, almost certainly of Bohemian (Czechoslovakian) origin, dating to the interwar period — circa 1920s to 1940s. The construction is characteristic of the Central European decorative glass industry of that era: a mould-blown or pressed bulbous body finished in a soft satin/frosted texture, transitioning to a clear, polished and faceted neck with a scalloped rim, all in a single piece. The body carries bold high-relief decoration — foliate scrolls, floral forms, and stylised fish or medallion motifs — a motif vocabulary entirely at home in the Art Déco idiom. Near-identical examples are attributed to Czech glassworks in the Desná/Jizera Mountains region and described as Art Déco moulded Bohemian glass; unmarked, in the style of Desna or comparable interwar Czechoslovakian studio glassworks.
