Vintage 20th Century – Japanese Studio Stoneware

Origin:

A complete seven-piece Japanese stoneware tea and sake service, produced in the 20th century in the Japanese studio-pottery tradition.

The teapot is hand-glazed in a mottled brown and carries an impressed six-character seal mark to the base, accompanied by a turquoise-glazed stoneware sake pot and five assorted cups.

The warm earthen brown set against the sake pot's turquoise gives the group a quiet, collected character, and each piece carries the hand-thrown irregularity prized in Japanese ceramics.

Condition:

  • In good order overall.

Size:

  • Various pieces ranging from 5 cm to 16 cm
  • Teapot: 16 cm wide

Details:

A usable yet sculptural set for the tea ritual — equally at home in daily use or displayed as a still life on a shelf, console, or tray.

The impressed seal mark and contrasting turquoise sake pot make this a characterful group for collectors of Japanese and Asian design.
