1930s – Art Deco Bohemian Moulded Glass – Perfume Bottle with Figural Stopper
Origin:
A striking example of Bohemian Art Deco pressed glass craft, this perfume bottle belongs to the celebrated "Ingrid" aesthetic — a body of work closely associated with the Gablonz (Jablonec nad Nisou) glassmaking tradition of interwar Czechoslovakia, most famously produced under Curt Schlevogt from approximately 1934 to 1939. The deep cobalt body swirls with lighter blue marbling to convincingly simulate lapis lazuli or malachite, a signature effect achieved through proprietary opaque glass formulas developed by Bohemian craftsmen of the period. The bell-flower relief decoration covering both the bulbous body and the dramatic flame-and-petal stopper is characteristic of the naturalistic but stylised ornamental vocabulary of the Ingrid range. Unmarked, in the manner of Schlevogt's Ingrid collection, Gablonz, Czechoslovakia, circa 1934–1939.

Design Notes:
The "Ingrid" glassware of interwar Bohemia sits at the intersection of Art Deco geometry and Symbolist nature motifs — the bell-flower, rendered here with extraordinary mould precision, was a recurring emblem of feminine elegance in the decorative arts of the 1930s. The deep malachite-blue glass gives this bottle a jewel-like presence that reads as luxurious and mysterious from across a room. A rare survivor of one of Central Europe's most accomplished glass design traditions.
