A set of five contemporary Japanese serving dishes in Arita porcelain — the celebrated blue-and-white tradition of Arita, the town that has produced Japan's finest porcelain since the 17th century.
Each rectangular dish is hand-decorated in cobalt blue with figures of sumo wrestlers and attendants, set within foliate scrollwork on a brocaded ground and finished with a brown line rim. The underside carries an impressed flowerhead mark.
The set is complete and retained in its original presentation box.
