1960s – Mid-Century Modern – Wardrobe
Origin:
A striking Mid-Century Modern two-door wardrobe, its case veneered in bookmatched rosewood with dramatic cathedral-flame grain across both doors — a hallmark of the case-goods workshops producing high-style bedroom furniture through the late 1950s and 1960s. Rectangular recessed pull handles combine a cream lacquered frame with a polished brass/chrome bezel and an antiqued silver filigree scrollwork insert, while tapered, splayed legs lift the case in the period's characteristic manner.
Condition:
- Veneer intact with strong, even bookmatched grain
- No visible lifting, bubbling, or losses
- Warm, consistent patina throughout
- Original hardware present and functioning
- Legs and structure solid, no wobble

Design Notes:
The bookmatched flame grain turns the two doors into a single continuous canvas, while the filigree hardware adds an unexpected touch of ornament to an otherwise clean, architectural case. Nearly six decades on, it still reads as thoroughly modern.
